The Junior Summer Camp Special Needs Caregiver is a seasonal, direct-care position in the Therapeutic Recreation Department.  Under the direct supervision of the Therapeutic Recreation Manager, the primary purpose of the Junior Summer Camp Special Needs Caregiver is to provide a safe & positive environment and supportive care for campers enrolled in the Therapeutic Recreation Summer Camp Program.  Therapeutic Recreation Summer Camp program hours run Monday-Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with Saturday Respite program from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Job Duties Include:

  • Actively and safely supervises and positively engages with youth participating in the program.
  • Assist with program activities including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, leisure activities, group games, and group swimming.
  • Provides physical support and active supervision in the pool, at the beach, in the gym, while on outings and any other places the group may be.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, parents and participants; promotes teamwork and supports overall goals of the Therapeutic Recreation Department.
  • Assist with answering questions, concerns, and comments from program participants, parents/guardians, and the general public; greets every guest/member entering the program area and strives to create a positive first impression.
  • Conducts daily review of the Communication Log Book to remain informed with any new information, policies, or procedures.
