Position
Working in partnership with the Chairman and members of the Kemper Board of Directors, the president will focus on the primary components of developing and implementing key strategies involving finance, function of the Board, and strategic planning.

Vision for Leadership and Strategic Direction at Kemper Center
The President will work closely with staff and the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategies aimed at enhancing the organization. These efforts will focus on fostering an environment of inclusivity and positivity, ensuring that these values are consistently reflected across all organizational functions. The goal is to create a culture where all staff feel supported, valued, and engaged. In partnership with the Board and other key stakeholders, the President will also lead the development of a comprehensive branding and marketing plan. This plan will be designed to elevate the Kemper Center's visibility, promote its mission, and expand its reach within the community. Ultimately, the President will aim to inspire and motivate the organization’s staff, ensuring that everyone is aligned with Kemper Center’s core values and goals while working to advance its mission.

Specific Responsibilities

Governance
The president is responsible for ensuring the necessary funding is available to enable Kemper Center, Inc. make ongoing progress towards the the accomplishment of its mission and that those funds are allocated properly to reflect present and future potential; The president, in coordination with the Board of Directors and appropriate staff, will determine staffing needs, and oversee the hiring of qualified personnel, and oversee evaluation of all personnel at a minimum of once per year; The president, in partnership with the Board of Directors, will annually update the Kemper’s Strategic Plan.

Financial
The president, in collaboration with the Board, will develop an annual budget for the organization, with said Board providing final approval; The president has responsibility for all financial aspects of the organization to ensure its overall viability, that all accepted accounting measures are in place, and the yearly audit of the organization; The President will regularly oversee the organization's financial health by developing strategic financial plans and budgets that ensure strong fiscal controls and align with organizational priorities. This includes maintaining financial stability, supporting programmatic and staffing needs, and coordinating the research and preparation of funding proposals to local and national sources. The president will, in partnership with appropriate individuals create both long and short term goals to meet the financial needs of the organization in addition to creating and implementing strategies to meet said goals; the president will support the efforts of staff assigned to lead all fundraising efforts;

Operations
The president leads and guides Kemper Center’s hospitality, arts, and educational programs, focusing on guest experience, financial performance, and operational excellence. She/he ensures Kemper’s mission is effectively communicated and that programs align with strategic goals, while also managing financial performance and operational efficiency.

Marketing
In partnership with the Board and other key stakeholders, the President will also lead the development of a comprehensive branding and marketing plan. This plan will be designed to elevate the Kemper Center's visibility, promote its mission, and expand its reach within the community.

Financial Oversight and Stability
The President, in collaboration with the Board, is responsible for preparing and managing the organization's annual budget, with final approval granted by the Board. Additionally, the President will maintain financial stability, ensuring that funds are allocated properly to meet both present and future needs. The President will support efforts to secure funding through research, proposal writing, and cultivating relationships with local and national funding sources. The President will work with the Board to establish short-term and long-term financial goals, and will guide the organization’s fundraising efforts, ensuring that the right strategies are in place to meet these goals.

Personnel Management
The President, in collaboration with the Board and appropriate staff, will determine the organization’s staffing needs. The President will oversee the hiring process to ensure that qualified personnel are brought on board and will ensure that each staff member is evaluated annually. Additionally, the President will guide the development of strategies that support staff motivation and professional growth, ensuring that all employees are aligned with the organization’s mission and values.
